A quick reminder for everyone: as a digital artist, it doesn't take much for problems to become catastrophic. A little bad luck with a hard drive and suddenly it's seven years worth of work down the drain.

That's what I'm staring down as we speak. Two the hard drive containing ALL of my art was damaged in the process of trying to back up the data, rendering it inaccessible and potentially damaging the actual files. The drive itself was physically damaged, meaning that the only recourse available to me has been to take it to a professional data recovery center. Because of the nature of the damage and the configuration of the drive - a pair of RAID-0 striped hard-drives acting as one larger drive - the drive has had to be shipped to a clean room where it will be dismantled and the data read directly from the drive's platters via forensic data recovery methods.

As it currently stands, it's going to cost me approximately $4000 to save my career and all of the art I've created over the last seven years, including all of my comic work and art for an upcoming gallery show.
